Jim played many sports growing up, and played Basketball in college at Wilkes University. He then transferred to Penn State Main Campus, where he graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology. After graduating college, Jim became N.A.S.M. certified, and began personal training. Jim has always been a dynamic trainer, appealing to the athlete as he incorporated plyometrics and agility in all of his training. Jim began doing CrossFit in 2008. He loved the competitive spirit and the team atmosphere created by CrossFit. Jim, along with many of his followers, supported his decision to open his own gym. Breaking Point Fitness-CrossFit Ridge Ave officially opened in June of 2012. The Breaking Point team has quickly grown into a family of athletes and friends. We look forward to growing even more in the future and learning from each of our team members, in order to increase our level of fitness and overall health.

As a high school student, Rachel attended a summer-long seminar at Canyon Ranch Health Resort, where she developed an interest in nutrition, spirituality and body mechanics. She then joined the cross-country and track teams at Baldwin High School. She took it upon herself to study nutrition and wellness in the human body. With her interest in wellness and medicine, she studied Pre-med at The University of Vermont, where she enjoyed running, biking, and hiking the green mountains. She graduated with her B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience. Rachel graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, with her degree as a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). She decided to further her education by enrolling in the University of Arizona’s Integrative Medicine Fellowship. She has been taught by many well-respected professors including Dr. Andrew Weil, Harvard-graduate and founder of Integrative Medicine, Dr. Siri Chand Khalsa, specialist in Ayurveda and Nutrition, and Sensai Koshin Ellison, co-founder of the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care. She hopes to be able to teach CrossFit members about nutrition as a key to wellbeing and disease prevention.
Meg has been playing sports since a young age and has always loved being competitive. Meg never truly worked out until college, where she played on the soccer team. After college, Meg joined the Manayunk Running Club, where she met Jim and Rachel. She began to workout with Jim and Rachel in their backyard, and instantly fell in love with CrossFit. Soon after, she got her CrossFit Level 1 certification and started competing in both Olympic Lifting and CrossFit competitions. In 2014, she finished 76th in the Mid Atlantic Region in the CrossFit Games Open. She loves our team/family here at CrossFit Ridge Ave, and she loves motivating everyone to push their limits.
Jessica fell in love with fitness at a young age, joining a local New Jersey gym as soon as she turned 16. She was a high school and college athlete, excelling in swimming, field hockey and track. During her freshman year at Penn State, she joined their Fitness Instructor Training Program and has began teaching all forms of group exercise. When she met Jim and Rachel in 2010 they inspired her to appreciate weight training and CrossFit and became CrossFit Level 1 certified in 2013.
Jessica is an accomplished triathlete in the Sprint, Olympic and Half Ironman distances. She has completed numerous half and full marathons as well as qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon in 2011. Jessica is also the Lead Instructor at Flywheel Philadelphia and practices yoga regularly. Her classes deliver a highly energized environment with fun music, all while creating a community in which everybody shares a love of being healthy and fit together.
Brian found and fell in love with CrossFit shortly after moving to Philadelphia in the Fall of 2013. Until that point, Brian had always led an active lifestyle, playing baseball and football from childhood through high school and into college through intramurals. He even began training with weights in middle school and has continued to do so since then but found it to become boring at times before CrossFit. At Penn State, Brian pursued his interests in health and the human body by receiving his B.S. in Nutritional Science. Even with this knowledge, he found it difficult to lose weight eating a standard, recommended diet. Brian re-educated himself on health and nutrition and has been able to lose and keep off 90lbs and build more muscle in the process with the help of CrossFit training. Brian is always self-educating on training styles, mobility techniques and of course, nutrition. He began coaching after receiving his CrossFit Level 1 certificate in January 2015 and is a proud member of the Breaking Point Fitness family. He wouldn’t want to spend his free time anywhere else.
